The controversial interview between Tucker Carlson and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee sparked a wave of heated comments on social media. Among other things, Carlson questioned the very identity of the Jews living today in Israel.
Carlson decided to touch on a deep identitarian-theological topic: are the Jews living today in Israel really descendants of the biblical people to whom this land was promised.
He directly asked: "Who are these people in 2026 and how do we know that they are descendants of Abraham?" To this, Huckabee replied: "If they speak the same language, if they pray to the same Lord, follow the same Torah, culture, and tradition, doesn’t that give you some idea about it?"
Tucker said he wants everyone living in Israel to undergo complete genetic testing to prove "who are the descendants of Abraham." He asked: "Why not conduct DNA testing on everyone living in the country? We have cracked the human genome, why aren’t we doing this? Are you against it?"
Huckabee responded: "I don’t understand what that could prove…" Tucker countered: "It will prove who is really a descendant of Abraham and who has the right to live here." Huckabee asked: "Should we do this worldwide?" Tucker said: "This is the only country in the world that, according to you, has this agreement with the Lord. According to your version, this people has a moral and legal right to this country." Huckabee replied: "What about people who have converted to Judaism? They have the right to repatriation under the Law of Return."
After the interview, Huckabee commented: "Tucker probably didn’t want me to answer some strange questions he asked, but I still answered that too."
