The US may carry out a 'decapitation strike' on Iran — an attack on leaders and command centers aimed at weakening or destroying the existing regime in the country without causing large-scale destruction, predicts the American publication 19FortyFive.

"The strike on Iran is likely to be swift, precise, and highly targeted. It is unlikely that the deployment of ground troops or a prolonged air campaign will be necessary — any potential operation will aim to be short and decisive," the publication states.

19FortyFive notes that conducting such an operation will be supported by the presence of two American aircraft carriers in the Middle East, which are capable of sustaining a prolonged and intensive military campaign.
