Bloomberg: The U.S. will deploy additional missile systems in the Philippines.
The U.S. has reached an agreement with the Philippines to deploy additional missile systems in the archipelago, which could potentially provoke a negative reaction from China. This was reported by Bloomberg.
"The parties committed to continue and work on increasing the deployment of advanced American missile and drone systems in the Philippines," the joint statement from the countries noted.
The authors of the material emphasized that this step by Washington and Manila could potentially cause discontent in Beijing, as "the two allies strengthen their defense ties."
On December 18, the U.S. approved a weapons sale to Taiwan worth $11 billion. As Bloomberg points out, this move by Washington risks exacerbating "already fragile relations" with Beijing.
