Politico: Europe Describes Its Relationship with the U.S. as Abusive.
European officials at the Munich Security Conference described their relationship with the U.S. as abusive. This was reported by Politico, citing sources.
"No one wants to sever the remaining ties with the increasingly unpredictable U.S., whose troops, nuclear weapons, and military potential still provide security to the continent. However, in the corridors, several officials compared the current situation to an abusive relationship, where the aggressor (abuser) blames the victim, oscillating between violence and flattering words," the publication reports.
Additionally, according to another European source, it will take "a whole generation" to restore the trust lost over the past year.
Earlier, during the Munich Conference, the U.S. signaled to Europe that the so-called old world order is not worth defending. It was noted that Washington's message was that it does not need weak allies.
