France is demanding that the United Kingdom make significant investments in European Union (EU) military contracts for Ukraine in exchange for allowing London access to them. This is reported by the Telegraph.

According to the publication, France has blocked Britain's participation in EU military contracts as it is interested in ensuring that the funds are used to develop the union's arms industry. At the same time, Paris has made a demand in case London is eventually allowed to participate in the contracts.

"An EU diplomat told the Telegraph that France insists that any British contribution to this project in exchange for participation should be as high as possible," the publication claims.

It was previously reported that EU countries are discussing the possibility of requiring non-block countries to pay an advance fee in order to enter into agreements with Ukraine using funds from the approved EU loan of 90 billion euros.
