The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, stated that she cannot envision the creation of a separate army for the European Union (EU). Her words were reported by Reuters.

"Every European country has an army, and the armies of 23 countries are also part of the NATO structure, so I cannot imagine that countries would create a separate European army," Kallas emphasized.

According to the head of EU diplomacy, the army must have a very clear chain of command so that "it is clear who gives orders to whom." She noted that creating a separate structure would only "cloud the picture."
