Индия закупает израильские комплекты, превращающие "глупые" бомбы в высокоточные боеприпасы.

The need for rearmament increased following hostilities with Pakistan in May of last year.

The Indian Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved extensive defense procurements totaling $8.7 billion yesterday.

This includes the approval of the purchase of Israeli SPICE-1000 systems, which transform a standard 500-kilogram bomb into a precision-guided long-range munition. The system combines satellite and inertial navigation with an electro-optical/infrared seeker for terminal guidance.

This technology provides autonomous target acquisition by comparing real-time images with stored mission data, as well as two-way communication that allows the pilot to update mission parameters in flight.

The system ensures accuracy within three meters and a range of up to 125 kilometers, enabling aircraft to drop munitions beyond the reach of enemy air defense systems.

India's need for various munitions from Israel has increased following hostilities with Pakistan in May of last year. The strengthening of relations was expressed in the signing of a memorandum of understanding in early November to enhance defense cooperation, signed by the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Major General (Res.) Amir Baram, and his Indian counterpart Rajesh Kumar Singh.

According to the SIPRI institute, India is the largest customer of the Israeli defense industry, accounting for about 34% of total defense exports in 2020-2024.

Meanwhile, Russia intends to establish joint ventures in India to produce products for servicing Russian military equipment.

Joint production of spare parts, components, and other products for servicing Russian weapons and military equipment will be established in India to meet the needs of the Indian army and for export to "friendly" third countries. For this purpose, Russia will transfer technologies to India, where joint ventures will be created.
