The historic church in Amsterdam caught fire on New Year's Eve.
In Amsterdam, flames engulfed a church with nearly 150 years of history, located near the historic city center. This was reported by the NL Times.
The fire broke out shortly after midnight. According to Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema, the main task now is to ensure the well-being and safety of the nearby residents. As a result of the emergency, the tower of the Vondelkerk church has already collapsed.
Emergency services noted that smoldering embers are scattering towards the city center.
The Vondelkerk church was built in 1872. It served as a Catholic church for over a hundred years. Recently, the premises were used for holding ceremonial events.
