In the Tuvplānā program on the portal 1188.lv, the floor was taken by Imants Lancmanis - historian, art historian, and longtime director of the Rundāle Palace Museum. One of the topics of the conversation was Russia.
Lancmanis believes that we should not fear a potential attack from Russia, as in his opinion, it is too poor a country, on the brink of bankruptcy, and cannot invade any NATO countries.
He also emphasized that, in his view, conscious hatred is cultivated against Russians: "I still speak Russian if someone addresses me in Russian, but at the same time, the Russian soul... they are very much subordinated to power, to evil power, which at this moment, just like Lenin, Stalin... they are subordinated to it, it is hypnosis. It is complete zombification in such a dramatic mass way. I feel sorry for the Russian people, whom Putin has essentially already doomed."
