Zelensky announced a meeting with Trump; Putin again demands all of Donbass

The meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States of America will take place in the near future, writes Korrespondent.

President Vladimir Zelensky announced a meeting with U.S. leader Donald Trump in the near future. The head of state reported this on Telegram on Friday, December 26.

According to him, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov reported on his recent contacts with the American side.

"Not a day is wasted. We agreed on a high-level meeting - with President Trump in the near future. A lot can be resolved before the New Year. Glory to Ukraine!" - said Zelensky.

The day before, on December 25, Zelensky had a phone conversation with U.S. President team members Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, after which he stated there were "good ideas for lasting peace."

Putin again demands all of Donbass

During discussions of a peace plan with the U.S., Russia continues to demand the transfer of the entire Donbass territory to it, including areas that Russian troops have not been able to capture. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the traditional pre-New Year meeting of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on December 25, as reported by the Russian publication Kommersant.

According to journalists, Putin told members of the State Council about the agreements that were allegedly discussed during the meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Anchorage, as well as about the American "peace plan."

"He mentioned that some of its initial proposals had been revised by the American side after consultations with Europeans. And that this is a weakness," the publication quotes Putin's statements.

According to Kommersant, Putin emphasized that Russia is still only willing to make those "concessions" that he accepted for himself back in Anchorage. This specifically refers to the demand for full control over Donbass.

"That is, it is about the fact that 'Donbass is ours.' The issue of the ownership of the Kramatorsk-Kostyantynivka-Slavansk hub is not up for discussion," the publication cites sources.

At the same time, according to Putin, in other areas, a partial exchange of territories could theoretically be considered, but exclusively on Moscow's terms.

Putin also stated that Russia and the U.S. are allegedly discussing the possibility of joint management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant without Ukraine's participation. According to him, the U.S. expressed interest in the ZNPP as a site for cryptocurrency mining.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated that it is fundamentally important for the Ukrainian authorities to control the part of Donbass that is currently under Ukraine's control.
