EU foreign policy chief Kallas: Russia has no right to concessions from Ukraine.
Russia "has no right" to any concessions from Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the European Union's foreign policy agency, Kaja Kallas, reports Sky News.
The diplomat emphasized that the terms of any peace agreement should be determined by Ukraine. "Both Europe and Ukraine want peace, but they cannot simply surrender to aggression," the newspaper quoted Kallas as saying.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy stated that the European Union's (EU) plan for Ukraine includes points on weakening Russia and supporting Ukraine. Kallas also expressed the opinion that sanctions against Russia are effective, as they help reduce Russia's revenues from hydrocarbon sales.
In Europe, the U.S. peace plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine was called "very bad," emphasizing that the Ukrainian side will likely have to agree to this proposal. European circles also noted that the timing for presenting the American peace plan is extremely unfortunate, as President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is currently under significant pressure due to a corruption scandal and Russia's military successes on the front.
