The fact that the hostilities in Ukraine have sparked a revolution in military affairs is now undeniable. This was also stated by U.S. Army veteran Matthew Sampson, reports 'Prozorro'.

The man fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in May 2022 he responded to the call of the Ukrainian authorities and joined the International Legion, made up of volunteers from around the world.

According to Sampson, the experience he gained fighting alongside his Ukrainian comrades was unique, as he had never seen anything like it before.

On the air of Channel 24, the American soldier noted that he was very surprised by the combat activities in the trenches, reminiscent of World War I.

"In the U.S. Army, we don’t train in trenches at all. The closest we get to that is training in hallways, but they usually have doors," the soldier noted.

He also added that in recent decades the U.S. Army has fought against weaker opponents, while in Ukraine he had to fight against a no less strong enemy.

"Americans usually have a lot of resources. But here, there are almost none. Because often the forces on the front are roughly equal. To be honest, we are not used to this," Sampson explained.
