At least six people have died and more than 400 have been injured as a result of the hurricane in southern Brazil, local authorities reported on Saturday, according to LETA citing AFP.
In the state of Paraná, a tornado overturned cars and destroyed buildings in the city of Riobonito do Iguaçu, which has a population of about 14,000, local meteorological services reported on Friday evening.
Although the storm lasted only a few minutes, it was accompanied by hail and wind gusts of nearly 70 meters per second.
The government of Paraná reported at least six fatalities and 432 injuries. Two people are considered missing.
According to the civil defense service, damage has been recorded in 90% of the territory of Riobonito do Iguaçu.
