Ukrainian commanders lie about the real situation at the front because it is easier for them to hide this information. This was stated on the air of the Kyiv 24 channel by the founder of the NGO 'Reactive Mail', military expert Pavel Narozhny.
"The lie occurs at the level of the brigade commander and the battalion commander. These are the levels that report on the state of the situation on the battlefield. If a position is lost, the commander is obligated to pass the information further. But if he reports the loss of a position, he receives, firstly, an order to restore that position. And secondly, there will be an inspection, or maybe even an investigation, into why this happened. This is a terrible 'headache' for the commander. It is easier for him to hide this information to avoid all these problems," explained Narozhny.
He added that this lie can accumulate. Fighters may lose several positions, and the Russians are pushing through the defenses of the Ukrainian defenders.
"How to overcome this? There should be two sides here. We need to put more pressure on brigade commanders to ensure they report only the truth. But having a representative of the General Staff or the corps commander sit with each brigade commander will also not work. We need to find a consensus. The command must understand that some positions are lost for objective reasons. For example, strikes with KABs, the enemy's advantage in manpower. Only in such a situation can we restore the situation when it is reported objectively," Narozhny added.
