Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China is ready to assist the U.S. after incidents in the South China Sea.
China has expressed its readiness to assist the United States following the crash of a fighter jet and a helicopter of the U.S. Navy in the South China Sea. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Zhao Lijian, as reported by Newsweek.
"If the U.S. requests assistance, China will provide the necessary help on humanitarian grounds," he said.
At the same time, the Chinese diplomat emphasized that the U.S. military exercises over the South China Sea, which led to the incidents, are the main cause of "undermining regional peace, stability, and maritime security."
It was previously reported that the F-18 fighter jet and the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter of the U.S. Navy crashed as a result of two incidents in the South China Sea. As clarified by the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet, both aircraft went down during routine operations.
