Mass Shooting Prevented at Atlanta Airport

Police at Atlanta Airport in Georgia arrested a man who planned to carry out a mass shooting, LETA reports citing AP.

Officials stated that police were able to prevent a potentially large tragedy.

49-year-old Billy Joe Keagle was arrested at the airport; police found an AR-15 assault rifle and ammunition in his vehicle.

Family members, suspecting something was wrong, alerted authorities about the planned attack. Keagle had reported on social media that he intended to carry out a shooting.

"Today we can report a success rather than a tragedy because the family noticed something and reported it," police stated, noting that relatives also informed authorities about the man having a rifle.

Police reported that he intended to harm as many people as possible.

Keagle has been charged with making terrorist threats and attempting to commit an armed attack.
