European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a joint statement expressing agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump's position on resolving the Ukrainian conflict and called for increased pressure on Russia. The text was published on the UK government's website.
"We are all united in our commitment to a just and lasting peace that the people of Ukraine deserve. We firmly support President Trump's position that hostilities must cease immediately and that the current line of contact should serve as a starting point for negotiations," the statement said.
European leaders expressed their readiness to intensify pressure on the Russian economy and defense industry, as well as announced the development of measures that would allow "to utilize the full potential of frozen Russian sovereign assets so that Ukraine receives the resources it needs." It was noted that issues of further support for Kyiv will be discussed at the upcoming meetings of the European Council and the "coalition of the willing," which will take place this week.
