U.S. President Donald Trump called the idea of a tunnel between Russia and Alaska interesting. He made this assessment during talks with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, with the broadcast available on the White House's YouTube channel.
According to him, this would lead the United States to a large amount of minerals. In turn, the Ukrainian leader noted that he is not pleased with this. "And I don’t like it," Zelensky stated. "I don’t think you like it," Trump replied.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, proposed building a tunnel from Russia to Alaska to connect the two countries and naming it after the presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and Donald Trump. The official also mentioned in a publication by American businessman Elon Musk and outlined the approximate cost of construction. According to him, standard approaches suggest costs of $65 billion, but technologies could reduce them to $8 billion.
