The prototype of the new M1E3 Abrams tank will be delivered to the U.S. Army in December.
The prototype of a new modification of the Abrams tank, referred to as a next-generation vehicle, will be delivered to the U.S. Army by the end of 2025. This is reported by TWZ.
Alex Miller, who serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Science and Technology Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, emphasized that the military wants to receive the M1E3 prototype by the end of the year. Meanwhile, throughout 2026, the Army plans to receive the first platoon of new vehicles.
"The Army's chief technologist says that Colonel Ryan Howell, who has led the Abrams program for many years and is currently the acting deputy head of PEO-GCS (the Army's Program Executive Office for Ground Combat Systems), assured the service leadership that the 'preliminary prototype' of the M1E3 will be delivered sometime in December," the publication writes.
Miller noted that there are many procedures that slow down the development process, but they can be expedited provided there is no danger to the soldiers.
