In Tennessee, the death toll from the explosion at the military facility has reached 16 people.
According to Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis, it was previously believed that 18 people were dead or missing; however, two individuals whose vehicles and personal belongings were at the scene were actually in another location at the time.
Authorities have already notified the families of the deceased. The cause of the explosion remains unknown. The investigation is being conducted by the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The presence of explosives and other munitions on the premises complicated the examination of the scene.
Recall that the explosion occurred the day before, on October 11, at the Accurate Energetic Systems factory, which produces military products and detonation devices. Homes were destroyed miles away from the site.
