Ankara's official statement sounded like a hopeful signal amid escalating tensions.
Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that some progress in resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict may be achieved soon. His words were reported by the TRT Haber channel.
Earlier, the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, held a meeting in Alaska. During this meeting, extremely important issues were raised. The Russian side clearly outlined to Trump the conditions for a ceasefire, after which the U.S. president discussed this with Ukrainian and European leaders, Fidan reminded.
The minister noted that the current situation is such that if one side makes concessions, the other will act more decisively, which is why both sides are ramping up military efforts.
"Now, it seems – and I mean when we spoke with the Americans – there is an idea that if this problem continues for some time, a few more months, there may be an opportunity for a solution. Because it is clear what the problem is and where it lies," he said.

According to Fidan, the problem is that Russia does not control all of the territory of the DPR, and Ukraine does not want to retreat.
There are some alternative options for possible solutions that are currently being discussed with European and American figures, added the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, Turkey expressed its readiness to take more responsibility for peace in Ukraine.
