French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu submitted his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron on the morning of Monday, October 6, reports Le Figaro.
As stated, Prime Minister Lecornu spent 27 days in office – the shortest term in the history of France.
The Élysée Palace announced that Macron accepted the resignation. Lecornu is expected to make a public statement soon.
As is known, on the evening of October 5, Lecornu completed the formation of his government.
It should be noted that France is experiencing a prolonged political crisis with constant changes of government amid mass protests from people dissatisfied with the economic and social policies of the authorities.
Lecornu's predecessor, François Bayrou, held the position of Prime Minister for 9 months. Over the past two years, the country has seen five Prime Ministers change.
