Ten soldiers missing in northern Norway. Five have been found so far

A search operation is ongoing in the northern Norwegian region of Finnmark on Thursday after ten servicemen did not return on time from training, reports VG.

Ten soldiers, who were initially reported missing, did not return after training on Thursday, the Finnmark police department reported. During the training, the military was supposed to move from one point to another.

Police, the Red Cross, the Armed Forces, and a rescue helicopter were dispatched to search for them. Police are also using drones to locate the missing.

"They were supposed to appear at 7 a.m. today, and 12 hours have already passed. It is now dark. Therefore, we are conducting searches in this area using the specified resources," said Jørgen Haukeland Hansen, the operational leader of the search team.

On Thursday evening, law enforcement reported that five missing soldiers had been found alive and well: three arrived at the designated meeting point on their own, while two others were located by the helicopter. "The search for the last five soldiers continues," Haukeland Hansen commented.
