If you have minced meat and a bit of rice at home, you can quickly prepare a hearty and tasty dinner. One of the simplest options is lazy cabbage rolls in the form of patties baked in aromatic tomato sauce. The dish is prepared without complicated steps and is perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
For the base
- minced meat — 500 g
- egg — 1 pc.
- boiled rice — 100 g
- onion — 1 pc.
- salt — to taste
- ground pepper — to taste
- khmeli-suneli — to taste
For the sauce
- onion — 1 pc.
- carrot — 1 pc.
- vegetable oil — for frying
- tomato paste — 2 tbsp.
- water — 350 ml
- flour — 3 tsp.
- salt — to taste
Preparation
Mix the minced meat with the egg and boiled rice. Add salt, pepper, and spices to taste. Grate the onion and mix it into the minced meat as well.
It is recommended to slightly beat the meat mixture — this will help the future patties hold their shape better. Then form small patties and place them in a deep baking dish.
To prepare the sauce, chop the onion and sauté it in a pan until translucent. Add the grated carrot and cook for a few more minutes until it becomes soft.
Then add the tomato paste, mix, and heat slightly. Pour in the water, salt to taste, and bring the mixture to homogeneity.
Separately mix a little water with the flour and add this mixture to the sauce, stirring constantly. Cook for another 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Pour the prepared sauce over the patties. Bake the dish in the oven at 180 °C for about 45 minutes.
