Kate Winslet May Join the Film 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum'

Actress Kate Winslet may join the cast of the new film 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum'. According to industry media, the Oscar-winning actress is in negotiations to participate in the project.

Possible Addition to the Cast

According to the industry publication Knight Edge Media, the creators of the film are considering Winslet for one of the key roles.

The project is based on the universe created by writer John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. The director of the film is Andy Serkis, who will also reprise his role as Gollum.

Return of Stars from the Original Trilogy

Actors from Peter Jackson's classic trilogy, Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen, have already confirmed their participation in the film.

Wood may once again appear as Frodo Baggins, while McKellen is set to reprise his role as Gandalf.

What Role Winslet Might Play

The creators have not yet revealed which character the actress might portray. According to insiders, several options are being discussed.

One of the possible characters mentioned is Gilraen — the mother of Aragorn. In the books, she plays an important role in his story and raises the future king in Rivendell after the death of her husband Arathorn.

The appearance of this character may be linked to flashbacks from Aragorn's childhood.

Interesting Fact About the Casting

Interestingly, Winslet could have previously been part of the 'Lord of the Rings' universe. At one time, the actress was offered the role of Éowyn in the original trilogy, but she declined due to a busy work schedule.

When the Film Will Be Released

Warner Bros. plans to release the film on December 17, 2027.

Filming is expected to begin in May 2026 in New Zealand — the country where the films of the 'Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' trilogies were previously shot.

The film will be based on events that are only briefly mentioned in the appendices to Tolkien's books, allowing the creators to significantly expand the story.
