Rob and Michelle Reiner were found dead with multiple stab wounds in their own home in California. Two months later, their son appeared in court and did not plead guilty to the brutal crime.
It has become known that 32-year-old Nick Reiner may face the maximum penalty of death for the murder of his parents. This was reported by RadarOnline.
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed that the defendant, who was charged in December 2025 with two counts of first-degree murder, could receive the death penalty.
"We approach the question of the possibility of seeking the death penalty with the utmost seriousness — the process for making such a decision is extremely strict. After receiving all the data, the information will undergo not just a detailed review but will also be evaluated by the most experienced prosecutors who specialize in death penalty cases," Nathan Hochman stated.
Another court hearing involving Nick is scheduled for April 29.
At a Christmas party shortly before the tragedy, Rob Reiner shared his concerns with a friend. "I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m afraid of my son. I think my own son could harm me," a witness to the case relayed the director's words.
Previously, the court unexpectedly prohibited the publication of the autopsy results of Rob Reiner and his wife. Moreover, information that Reiner and Singer died from multiple stab wounds has been removed from the official website.
