Study: Which People Are Most Likely to Believe Fake News

The experiment involved representatives from different generations.

Scientists from the University of British Columbia found that Zoomers are more likely to believe fake news compared to members of older generations. PID reports this.

In their work, the researchers focused on the "Critical Thinking Ability Test" developed by psychologists. Participants in the experiment were required to assess the truthfulness of both real and fake headlines.

The results of the study surprised the scientists: it turned out that Zoomers are more often mistaken in their judgments. Their ability to distinguish truth from lies was worse than that of older participants. Additionally, those with conservative views often trusted unreliable information.

The results were also influenced by the gender of the participants: for example, women were more likely than men to accept false information as truth. The study also showed that respondents with higher education were better at recognizing lies and truths.
