Many do not know that some houseplants are categorically not recommended to be kept in the bedroom during the winter period. Meanwhile, their presence can negatively affect health and well-being.
Dieffenbachia is dangerous due to its toxic sap. When ingested, it causes burning, swelling of the tongue, lips, and throat, and in severe cases, suffocation. For this reason, it is not recommended to place the plant in children's rooms, as well as in eating and sleeping areas. It is best to keep it in the living room, hallway, or office.
Monstera becomes an undesirable neighbor in a poorly ventilated bedroom during winter. In enclosed spaces, the plant actively absorbs oxygen and releases carbon dioxide at night, which can lead to morning headaches, drowsiness, and a feeling of fatigue. To prevent such consequences, it is better to move the monstera to a more spacious room with good air circulation.
Oleander contains dangerous glycosides that can cause serious poisoning if ingested. Even without direct contact, the plant can be harmful: its flowers release essential oils that provoke dizziness, headaches, and nausea in enclosed spaces.
