Breakfast sets the tone for the entire day, but not all foods are beneficial in the morning. The nutritionist explains what is strictly prohibited to eat and drink on an empty stomach to avoid harming the gastrointestinal tract.

What should not be consumed on an empty stomach:

Sweets:

Pastries (croissants, buns, muffins), candies, chocolate, and sweet bars sharply increase insulin production, putting a strain on the pancreas and disrupting carbohydrate metabolism.

Vegetables and sour fruits:

Fruit acids and fiber can irritate the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum, disrupt blood circulation, and cause discomfort.

Citrus juices and fresh juices:

Contain acids that irritate the mucous membrane, therefore they are contraindicated on an empty stomach.

Cold dishes and drinks:

Cause spasms of blood vessels, reduce the protective functions of the intestines, and slow down food digestion, negatively affecting metabolism.

Coffee:

Dangerous for people with ulcers, gastritis, or high acidity. A cup of coffee in the morning does not harm healthy individuals and even stimulates the gastrointestinal tract, bile secretion, and urination.
