The total value of the franchise is $150 billion.
The Pokémon Company and The Pokémon Works have announced the release date for the mobile version of the online battler Pokémon Champions. The game will be available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play) devices starting June 17, 2026.
Previously, Pokémon Champions was released on Nintendo Switch. The mobile version will support cross-platform battles, allowing users on Switch, iOS, and Android to play with each other without platform restrictions.
Pokémon Champions offers multiplayer battles between trainers. Players can engage in ranked matches against opponents from around the world, more casual regular battles, and private fights with friends or other trainers. Players can assemble their own team of Pokémon right within Pokémon Champions. Additionally, the game supports connectivity with Pokémon HOME, allowing the use of certain Pokémon obtained in other projects of the series.
To celebrate the launch of the mobile version, from June 17 to September 2, players will be able to receive Raichu, Raichu X, and Raichu Y for free through in-game mail. The bonus will be available in both the mobile version and on Nintendo Switch.
Pocket Monster — "Pocket Monster" — is a media franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1996. The trademark "Pokémon" belongs to The Pokémon Company. "Pokémon" first appeared as a pair of games developed by Game Freak and has since become the second most popular video game series in the world, second only to Nintendo's Mario. The total value of the Pokémon franchise is estimated at $150 billion, making it one of the highest-grossing media franchises in history. Based on the games, there is an anime that enjoys immense success worldwide, as well as manga, a collectible card game, and various merchandise. Since July 2016, the game Pokémon Go for iOS and Android has gained widespread popularity and significant public resonance for interactive Pokémon catching in a virtually augmented real world (on real objects across the globe).
The word "Pokémon" itself refers to a creature with supernatural abilities. There are 1,025 species of Pokémon. In the storyline, people known as Pokémon trainers train them for battles against other trainers' Pokémon. Battles continue until one of the Pokémon faints or its trainer surrenders — battles never result in death.
