Bloomberg: with the iOS 27 update, Apple smartphones will last longer.
Apple will improve the battery life of the iPhone for free. This was reported by insider Mark Gurman in a piece for Bloomberg.
The well-known specialist stated that in the upcoming iOS 27, the American company will focus on optimization. The company's experts plan to rewrite the code of iOS 26 and remove unnecessary lines that remain from old iPhone features or were included by mistake. The result will be an increase in the performance of smartphones.
Gurman explained that Apple currently acknowledges that there are lines of code in the operating system (OS) that trigger useless background processes. These actions accelerate the battery drain of the smartphone. Additionally, the optimization will allow many built-in applications — such as "Clock" or "Compass" — to work faster and more efficiently.
Apple is also concerned that the neural processor, which is installed in several recent smartphones, excessively burdens the battery. The chip, which is designed for processing artificial intelligence (AI) tasks, will also be improved.
The announcement of the new version of iOS is traditionally expected at the June WWDC event. The release of iOS 27 will take place in the fall. Owners of existing Apple smartphones will receive the update for free.
