Enthusiasts have compressed the size of GTA V by 50 times — missions, content, and music have been removed.

Enthusiasts have compressed the size of the popular game GTA V by 50 times. This was announced on the social network X by a blogger under the nickname SynthPotato.

Unknown modders released a version of the game that takes a record 2.5 gigabytes of memory on a personal computer (PC). In comparison, the regular version of GTA V requires at least 100 gigabytes of memory. SynthPotato stated that specialists had to remove a large amount of content from the game, but the title can still be launched.

Thus, the trimmed version has completely lost missions, maps, sound, and other content. The modders also significantly degraded the graphics and reduced the frame rate. "The game somehow still works and is the most lightweight version of GTA V to date," noted the author.

Journalists from Notebookcheck stated that at launch, GTA V had much smaller sizes than it does now. However, in the nearly 13 years since its release, the title has accumulated updates and improvements. "The modification for GTA V is a serious compromise in graphics quality and performance," concluded the authors.

In early February, publisher Take-Two Interactive confirmed that GTA VI will be released on November 19, 2026. The marketing campaign dedicated to the release will start in the summer.
