Consumer Reports has compiled its annual ranking of the most reliable cars for 2025, in which almost the entire podium is occupied by Japanese models. This is not the most objective comparison, the authors admit, as many models were excluded from the analysis due to a "lack of data." On the other hand, the information comes directly from car owners, which serves as an indirect marker – some brands are in much lower demand than others.

The leader of the ranking is Toyota with a reliability score of 66 out of 100, which can be seen as a serious effort to address last year's mistakes. This allowed it to surpass last year's winner – Subaru, which dropped to second place (63). Rounding out the top three is Lexus, owned by Toyota (60). Fourth and fifth places go to Honda (59) and BMW (58).

If we look further down the list, the dominance of Japanese brands continues there – they hold five positions in the top ten.

It could have been more, but Tesla unexpectedly performed confidently, largely due to the Model 3, which the magazine officially named "the most reliable electric vehicle" based on numerous surveys. This is despite the general consensus that commercial electric transport still clearly lags behind hybrid cars in reliability.
