Apple canceled the release of AirPods in different colors — the earbuds were only released in white.
Apple planned to release colorful AirPods, but abandoned the idea. This was reported by MacRumors.
Journalists referred to a post on X by a well-known Apple tech collector under the nickname Kosutami. The user shared photos of the earbuds, which externally resemble first-generation AirPods but have yellow and pink casings. Kosutami claims that these were supposed to be Apple's earbuds, but the company changed its mind and released the headset only in white.
According to the insider, the earbuds he revealed were painted in the style of the iPhone 5c. This is an inexpensive Apple smartphone that was released in 2013 and featured a plastic casing. The device was sold in various colors. However, for certain reasons, Apple decided against releasing colorful earbuds and canceled the project.
MacRumors journalists speculated that Apple developed five different color options for the AirPods. They concluded that the only colorful Apple earbuds at the moment are the AirPods Max.
