The state enterprise "Latvian State Radio and Television Center" (LVRTC) has restored the operation of most critical systems; however, given the volume of work being done, it will not be possible to restore disrupted cloud storage services for all affected clients today, according to information released by LVRTC.
LVRTC continues to work to restore services for all clients affected by the failure of cloud storage equipment as soon as possible.
As previously reported, by Thursday afternoon LVRTC had restored the operation of disrupted cloud services for several clients. This includes the restoration of previously disrupted services of the State Land Service, as well as the operation of "eParaksta."
However, there are still several websites that are inaccessible to residents, and the internal information systems of certain institutions are disrupted, which end users may not notice.
The LETA agency noted that the electronic services of the Enterprise Register, as well as the website "e-parvaldnieks.lv" and the mobile application of the municipal enterprise "Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks" (Riga House Manager) have still not been restored.
Meanwhile, the IT incident prevention institution "Cert.lv" reports that there are currently no signs that the disruptions in LVRTC's cloud services on Thursday were related to a cyberattack.
The unavailability of the service was caused by the simultaneous failure of several devices in the virtualization cluster, resulting in the clusters operating in a limited mode, and the services provided to individual clients being affected and unavailable, including certain websites that may be inaccessible or experiencing delays.
LVRTC is the main operator of the terrestrial broadcasting network for radio and television programs in the country. LVRTC also manages the state-owned shares of the mobile operator "Latvijas mobilais telefons."
