The release of the biographical film "Michael" by director Antoine Fuqua significantly increased readers' interest in literature about the legendary musician Michael Jackson. According to data from the "Kladyez. Music" project, sales of several books about the singer sharply rose in the first half of June.
The most impressive result was shown by the publication "Michael Jackson: A Biography in Comics." In the first 15 days of June, the book sold 3.5 times more actively than in the entire previous month. Sales increased by 246%. The graphic novel, created with the participation of more than twenty artists from different countries, tells the story of the artist from his performances with The Jackson 5 to worldwide fame.
A significant increase in demand was also recorded for the book "In the Studio with Michael Jackson." Its sales rose by 166% compared to May. The author of the publication is five-time Grammy Award winner Bruce Swedien, who worked with Jackson for many years on iconic albums. In his memoirs, Swedien details the creation of the albums Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad, which became an important part of the history of global pop music.
Analysts also noted a sharp rise in interest in these books on marketplaces. The number of additions to the cart for the comic biography on Wildberries increased almost eightfold, while on Ozon it more than tripled. Bruce Swedien's book also showed impressive dynamics: the number of potential purchases grew fourfold on Wildberries and almost threefold on Ozon.
Experts attribute this surge of interest to the release of the new film, which once again drew public attention to the life, creativity, and legacy of one of the most famous musicians in history.
