Apple has released an urgent update for older generation iPhones. This was noted by Forbes magazine.
Journalists from the media outlet observed that the company introduced the iOS 18.7.2 update two days after the release of iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1. The iOS 18.7.2 update was released for those who have not updated their smartphones — either due to unwillingness to switch to iOS 26 or because their iPhone does not support the newer version of the operating system (OS).
Experts noted that the update fixes about 25 vulnerabilities and bugs related to smartphone security issues. It is available in the "Software Update" section of the iPhone settings, and its size is 755 megabytes. Apple urged all owners of branded devices not to ignore the update.
Forbes journalists pointed out that iOS 18.7.2 can be installed on all iPhones that support iOS 18 and 17. This includes the ability to install the update on iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and Xr, which do not have support for iOS 26. Accordingly, iPhones that support the most current OS do not need to install iOS 18.7.2.
At the end of October, journalists from 9to5Mac reported on the Adaptive Power feature, which can extend the battery life of the smartphone. It works on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max and on all devices in the new iPhone 16 and 17 series.
