Microsoft has released an urgent update addressing a vulnerability in Windows Server.

Microsoft has released an urgent update for Windows Server. This was noted by Forbes.

The emergency update addresses the vulnerability CVE-2025-59287, which was reported by experts from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in mid-October. The issue primarily affects Windows Server—a specialized server version of the operating system (OS)—but may also impact Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The vulnerability allows attackers to remotely execute specific code on the device. Computers that do not have the special WSUS feature enabled are at risk of attack. "To comprehensively address the vulnerability CVE-2025-59287, Microsoft has released an out-of-band security update," the creators of Windows stated.

Security expert Benjamin Harris from watchTowr noted that CVE-2025-59287 is a popular and widely exploited vulnerability. He and his colleagues have detected around 8,000 attacks on Windows computers from hackers. Harris observed that attackers attempted to target very large and well-known companies. Microsoft has urged users not to ignore the update.
