The new PlayStation 5 Pro has received a simplified gamepad and has not become more powerful.
The new version of the PS5 Pro console has received a downgraded gamepad. This was stated by blogger Austin Evans in a video on YouTube.
In early October, Sony began selling the updated PlayStation 5 Pro. YouTuber Evans purchased the console and disassembled it to compare it with the previous version model. It turned out that the CFI-7121 revision console has a worse DualSense controller than the original PlayStation 5 Pro.
Evans explained that the accessory lacks an additional microphone, which in the first-generation gamepad was responsible for more accurate voice recording. The specialist suggested that Sony added a simplified controller to save costs. He also conducted a series of tests and found no superiority of the CFI-7121 revision over the first-generation PS5 Pro — it did not become more powerful.
However, the updated flagship console from Sony received several improvements. For instance, it became lighter: 3.01 kg compared to 3.10 kg for the old version. Additionally, it consumes slightly less electrical power in games. Austin Evans explained the weight difference by lighter fan bearings and a smaller rear radiator with a lower heat dissipation coefficient.
In conclusion, the blogger noted that he expected the new PS5 Pro revision to feature a DualSense gamepad with a replaceable battery. However, this did not happen.
In mid-October, well-known insider Moore's Law Is Dead stated that the Sony PlayStation 6 console will cost over $500.
