Hundreds of Vulnerabilities Found in Windows

Microsoft found and eliminated 172 vulnerabilities in the Windows OS.

Microsoft has discovered and eliminated hundreds of vulnerabilities in the Windows operating systems (OS). This was noted by Bleeping Computer.

In mid-October, the company released a patch for Windows. Microsoft engineers noticed that the update includes fixes for 172 vulnerabilities identified by the corporation, third-party specialists, and the Windows community.

Out of the 172, only eight vulnerabilities are classified as critical. 80 vulnerabilities are related to privilege escalation, 11 to bypassing security technologies, 31 to remote code execution, and 28 to information disclosure. Specialists also reported on 6 zero-day vulnerabilities—system flaws for which no protective tools have been developed.

Bleeping Computer journalists emphasized that the list does not include vulnerabilities that Microsoft addressed earlier in the month. Therefore, the total number should exceed 172. They also noted that the update was released on Tuesday, October 14—on the day support for Windows 10 ended. The update with patches was also the last for the outdated OS.
