One such unit can generate up to 100 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity per year.

China has begun testing the world's most powerful offshore wind turbine with a single unit capacity of 26 megawatts. The tests took place in Dongyin, Shandong Province (eastern China).

Although the turbine is designed for offshore operation, its first prototype is installed on land to simplify testing.

According to the manufacturer, Dongfang Electric Corporation, the rotor diameter is 310 meters, and the blade length is 153 meters. The total height of the structure approaches 200 meters, and the rotor sweep area reaches 77,000 square meters. The turbine is fully designed and manufactured in China.

Yang Senling, deputy director of the wind energy systems research and design institute of the company, told reporters that with an average annual wind speed of 10 meters per second, one such unit can generate up to 100 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity per year — a significant contribution to the development of renewable energy.

He stated that the tests were successful, and the company plans to start building similar turbines in the southern provinces of Guangdong and Fujian as early as 2026.
