Google stated that apps can be installed on Android locally.
Google has reassured Android users regarding future difficulties in installing applications. The material was published on the company's blog.
At the end of August, Google announced that starting in 2026, every Android app developer will need to undergo verification. If the creator of the application refuses to do so, their app will not be installable on smartphones, even bypassing Google Play through an apk file. Engineers from the IT giant revealed a method for installing programs on smartphones without undergoing verification.
The company explained that app authors will be able to upload their programs through Android Studio. This is a tool from the Android project that allows applications to be installed on devices for debugging and testing. It is implied that developers, after testing all the functions of the program on a test smartphone, will be able to undergo verification with Google.
"You can continue to develop, debug, and test your application locally, deploying it on both emulators and physical devices, just as you do now," Google noted. However, it seems that distributing applications among other users from developers without verification will be an extremely complicated process.
