Danish forward Nikolaj Ehlers of the Carolina Hurricanes scored the fastest goal in 50 years in the opening match of the Stanley Cup final.
Carolina lost at home to the Vegas Golden Knights with a score of 4-5. Ehlers scored a double in the match.
Ehlers scored the first goal just 25 seconds into the game. Faster than him in the opening matches of the Stanley Cup finals were only Canadian forward Sid Smith of the Toronto Maple Leafs (15 seconds) in 1951 and Canadian forward Reggie Leach of the Philadelphia Flyers (21 seconds) in 1976.
The series score to four wins is 1-0 in favor of Vegas. The second match of the Stanley Cup final series will take place on June 5.
