The Saeima will also consider the opposition's initiative to increase the maximum amount of justified expense refunds.
Tomorrow at the plenary session of the Saeima, it will be a big "staff day" - three former ministers of the Silin government will return their parliamentary mandates: Arvils Ašeradens, Raimonds Čudars, and Inese Lībiņa-Egnere. It is expected that in a week, Evika Silina herself will also restore her parliamentary powers.
In turn, instead of the new prime minister and ministers, the "soft" parliamentary mandates will be given to the next candidates on the list of the United List and the National Alliance respectively: lawyer Ieva Brante, Master in Business and EU Law Raivis Kalejs, engineer Davis Melnāksnis, psychologist by education Janis Eglitis, and agronomist Arnolds Jatnieks. Also, instead of the departed Uldis Augulis from the Union of Greens and Farmers, doctor Girts Štekerhofs returns to parliament.
The agenda of the plenary session also includes two "tax" initiatives from the opposition faction "Latvia First" - to reduce the corporate income tax rate from 20% to 12.5%, and to increase the maximum amount of refunded overpaid taxes from 600 euros to 1000 euros. These initiatives will surely be rejected, just like the first initiative of the "progressives" already in opposition status - to allocate the additional profit of "Latvijas valsts meži" amounting to 130 million to the state budget.
