The Swiss national team defeated the Norwegian team 6–0 in the semifinal match of the ice hockey World Championship.
Both teams played against the Latvian national team in this championship and both won. The Swiss won 4–2, while the Norwegians won 2–0.
The winners' goals were scored by Christoph Bertschy (18th minute), Denis Malgin (25), Ken Jäger (33), Damien Riat (37), Nico Hischier (45), and Theo Rochette (58).
In the second semifinal, the teams of Finland and Canada will play later on Saturday.
Switzerland has never won the World Championship but has taken silver five times (1935, 2013, 2018, 2024, 2025). The Swiss will play in the final for the third consecutive time; last year they lost to the USA in the decisive match, and the year before that to the Czech Republic.
The World Championship, which is taking place in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland, will conclude on May 31.
