"The Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal will take place today, May 30, in Budapest. The police have taken measures to ensure the safety of people and property this evening. In the event of victory, unlike last year, a parade on the Champs-Élysées is not planned," the statement from the mayor's office of the 8th arrondissement of Paris reads.
PSG has been banned from holding a championship parade in Paris if they win the Champions League.
Earlier, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated that on the day of the Champions League final, authorities expect "the same level of violence" in the capital as the previous year and promised "exceptional strengthening of security measures." Meanwhile, according to French media, in the event of PSG's victory, authorities are considering an alternative celebration format at the Champ de Mars near the Eiffel Tower.
Recall that in 2025, after PSG's victory in the main European cup, mass riots occurred in Paris and several cities in France. Reports indicated that as a result, two people died, 192 were injured, and at least 559 were detained.
PSG is the first French club to reach the Champions League final twice in a row and the first reigning tournament champion since the 2017/18 season to reach the final. Additionally, PSG is the only representative of France that has reached the final of the European Cup/Champions League three times in total.
This year, PSG's opponent in the final will be London’s Arsenal, who eliminated Madrid’s Atletico in the semifinals (1:1, 1:0). In the final of the previous Champions League edition, the Parisians defeated Italian Inter 5:0. The record for the most victories in the main club tournament in Europe belongs to Real Madrid — 15.
