Two curling stones worth about two thousand dollars were stolen in Italy ahead of the Paralympics

Two stones that were supposed to be used in the wheelchair curling tournament at the 2026 Paralympic Games in Italy were stolen from the arena in Cortina.

“Unfortunately, two stones were stolen from the arena. Local authorities are currently conducting an investigation,” a representative of the World Curling Federation told The Guardian.

The value of the missing stones, each weighing about 19 kg, is approximately $1,000, and the lost equipment will be replaced with a spare. It was noted that the theft was discovered on Monday during a routine check.

The opening ceremony of the Paralympics will take place in Verona on Friday, March 6. The games will last until the 15th.
