Italian biathlete Rebecca Passler has been excluded from the team for the 2026 Olympic Games after testing positive for doping. An investigation is underway to establish all the facts, as reported on the website of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI).
On Monday, it became known that a metabolite of letrozole was found in the doping sample of 24-year-old Passler, and she has been suspended from competition.
— The Federation is already investigating the incident and intends to support its athlete. It is extremely important to clarify this matter to eliminate any misunderstandings that could seriously affect Rebecca's career and the image of the federation, said FISI head Flavio Roda.
As emphasized in the release, FISI "has always fought against the use of prohibited substances in sports, educating athletes from a young age to act in accordance with the rules."
Passler is ranked 33rd in the overall standings of the World Cup. The first biathlon competitions at the Olympics are scheduled for February 8.
The Olympic Games will take place in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 6 to 22.
