Canadian forward Connor McDavid of Edmonton recorded an assist in the NHL regular season game against Winnipeg (3:1). Thus, he matched the 21st-century record for points in a calendar month.
In December, McDavid scored 13 goals and provided 20 assists in 13 games. The same number (33 points) was achieved by Steven Stamkos in April 2022. In the last 30 years, only Mario Lemieux has accomplished such a feat, scoring 37 points in December 1995.
So far this season, McDavid has 24+45 in 40 games. He is currently the top scorer of the season, ahead of Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon.
