The Toronto Maple Leafs have become the most expensive NHL team as of 2025. This was revealed in a report by Forbes.
The value of the Toronto Maple Leafs increased by 16% over the year, reaching $4.4 billion. The team has become the most expensive in the NHL for the third consecutive time. The New York Rangers are in second place — also surpassing the $4 billion mark, with a growth of 12%.
The top five also includes: the Montreal Canadiens — $3.4 billion (+13% growth), the Edmonton Oilers – $3.2 billion (+21%), and the Los Angeles Kings — $3.1 billion (+7%). The cheapest team in the league turned out to be the Columbus Blue Jackets ($1.3 billion, +30%).
The NHL team valuations conducted by Forbes represent an analysis of the club's financial condition, including equity, net debt, revenues not related to the NHL, as well as the economic situation surrounding home arenas.
Toronto is currently in 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings with 33 points after 31 games.
